Raw Materials for SPC Flooring

Key Formulation Points

1. PVC Resin (SG-5): We use ethylene-based Type 5 resin for its excellent strength, toughness, and environmentally friendly properties.

2. Calcium Powder Fineness: Given its high proportion in the formulation, calcium powder directly impacts the overall cost, processing performance, wear on the screw and barrel, and product performance. It’s crucial not to select overly coarse calcium powder. A fineness of 400-800 mesh is recommended.

3. Internal and External Lubricants: Considering the prolonged high-temperature residence time of materials in the extruder, as well as the factors of material performance and peel strength, it’s advised to use high-performance wax in controlled small quantities. Different types of wax should be used to meet both the initial and long-term lubrication needs.

• PE Wax: Ideal for achieving optimal lubrication.

4. ACR Processing Aid (KRT401): Due to the high calcium powder content in SPC flooring, the plasticization requirements are stringent. In addition to controlling the screw type and processing techniques, the addition of processing aids is essential to help with plasticization, ensuring the melt has sufficient strength and ductility during the calendering process.

5. CPE Impact modifier: The flooring needs not only low shrinkage and good rigidity but also a balance between rigidity and toughness. This ensures the lock joints are strong, the product doesn’t soften at high temperatures, and it maintains some toughness at low temperatures. While CPE has excellent toughness, excessive addition can reduce the rigidity of PVC, lower the Vicat softening point, and increase shrinkage.

6. Anti-Shrinkage Agent: This agent compresses the particle gaps in PVC material, reducing excessive shrinkage caused by temperature fluctuations.

7. PE Wax: In addition to being a lubricant, PE wax also acts as a dispersant. However, excessive usage can affect the balance of internal and external lubrication, weaken melt strength, increase shrinkage, reduce peel strength, and make the product brittle.

8. Recycled Material: We recommend using the company’s own production scrap and post-processing recycled material whenever possible.
